India and England are all set to lock horns in a blockbuster semi-final clash at Adelaide Oval. Both teams have prepared themselves to pull a victory in a must-win situation. India have been phenomenal in the knockout stages and will face England with a completely prepared squad. India haven’t won the tournament since their inaugural edition in 2007 and England last won the T20I title in 2010.

Current Form

A few months ago, these two sides spent a concentrated time with India taking lead with a comfortable 2-1 victory in the T20I series. However, this time things are totally different and both sides will battle it out to clinch the victory and reserve one last spot in the Final.

England are coming off an astonishing victory over New Zealand in their last Super 12s match that made their way to the semi-final, eliminating Australia from the tournament. England posted a mighty target of 180 runs to New Zealand at the Gabba. New Zealand in return could only reach 159 runs as England bowlers did a remarkable job to defend.

India also claimed a huge victory in their last Super 12s match against Zimbabwe and remained the table toppers. Mighty India scored 186 runs in their allotted overs as Suryakumar Yadav lifted the side in the death overs. They further restricted Zimbabwe to only 115 runs inside 18 overs. Zimbabwe were all-out for 115 as Ravichandran Ashwin claimed three wickets.

However, things are totally different and both teams will strive to become more challenging after every over or even after every single delivery. India have been phenomenal in the World Cup knockout stages and have the potential to surpass England in this match. After Pakistan claimed a comfortable victory over New Zealand to qualify for the Final, Team India will not miss this crucial opportunity to qualify for the Final and face their arch-rivals.

Meanwhile, England are well prepared to face any mighty team as they regained their strength during the Super 12s stage. England opened their campaign against Ireland and suffered a devastating loss in a rain-affected game. But in reality, it was a lesson for the English side to improve their lineup and overcome the loopholes. They managed to achieve this and remained unbeaten in rest of the Super 12s matches.

Head to head:

Both teams have played 22 head-to-head T20I matches:

India: 12

England: 10

Injury Update

Chris Jordan is expected to play in the semifinal against India as the fastest bowler in the T20 World Cup 2022 has muscle stiffness. Meanwhile, Dawid Malan gave a fitness test today in the morning. The final decision about his inclusion in the playing XI will only be taken before the toss. However, England gave Phil Salt an extended practice session to prepare himself as an alternate for David Malan.

Notable Players

England suffered some injury losses just before the mega clash; however, India are playing with a completely reliable squad.

Suryakumar Yadav is considered the most impactful player given the batter-friendly conditions at Adelaide. He recently displayed breathtaking innings against Zimbabwe and remained unbeaten with 61 off 25 deliveries. He has been phenomenal in the tournament and will look for another marvelous inning to maintain his no.1 spot in T20I.

Liam Livingstone:

England all-rounder Liam Livingstone is a perfect pick against India in the semifinal stage as England suffered a major injury blow. He will take charge with the bat in the death overs to make a quick turnaround. Moreover, he will keep surprising India with his tactical bowling.

Pitch Report:

The Adelaide Oval's pitch is quite impressive. The way in which the ball enters the bat enables the hitters to smash boundaries. A total between 170 and 180 may be a winning one on this surface. If the playing surface is kept in good condition during the event, a high-scoring game can be predicted there.

The weather forecast is fine despite an early morning show predicted and the game will remain uninterrupted.

Playing XI:

India (Probable): Rohit Sharma (c), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wk), Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh

England (Probable): Jos Buttler (c & wk), Alex Hales, Phil Salt, Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood/Chris Jordan
